Request Information from Others Securely with Lockbin Add-in for MS Outlook

Lockbin.com is a service from Encryptomatic LLC. It helps professionals communicate securely with patients, clients and customers.

Sometimes, a client needs to send important information directly to a professional. It might be tax documents for a CPA, a social security number for the HR department, a photo of a wound for a doctor... whatever it is, it is something that needs to be sent privately, in confidence, and over a secure encrypted connection.

A useful feature in Lockbin for this purpose is the "Information Request" button. It generates a secure webform and sends it to the client.  Anything uploaded or entered into this web form is sent directly back to the professional over a secure, encrypted connection.

Lockbin Add-in for Outlook

The process for sending the Information Request for Outlook users who have installed the Lockbin add-in only involves a couple of clicks.

First, choose the "Send Request" button.

Next, type the email address of the person who needs to send the information and a short description that will appear on the web form.

Finally, choose whether you want Lockbin to email the link, or if you prefer to send it yourself, maybe in an email or SMS text.

When the recipient follows the link, they are taken to a form that is dynamically generated based on your specific request to this user.

Any information entered into this form will be sent directly to the Lockbin user. Outlook users will receive the information directly into their Outlook mailbox.

However, rest assured - even though the experience in Outlook is similar to receiving an email,  your client's private information has not been sent over email protocols.  The information travels directly from the Lockbin server to your Microsoft Outlook inbox, never through a mail server.

Lockbin Email Encryption Service Updates

Lockbin, a service of Encryptomatic LLC providing a secure messaging platform that is HIPAA compliant, has been enhanced in a major update which includes improvements to the Lockbin.com web service, the Outlook add-in, and the java desktop application.

The updated add-in for Microsoft Outlook now allows Lockbin users to download messages directly to their Outlook inbox.  A new File Request feature lets you receive files from anyone over a secure link and have those files directly deposited to your Outlook inbox.

File uploading has been improved on the Lockbin.com web site for iPad and Android tablet users to upload files from their devices.

To accommodate the changes to the Lockbin system, the Java uploader application has been updated to version 1.5. This is a mandatory update as the older app will cease working shortly.

Lockbin announces free add-in for Outlook email encryption

Our sister company, Lockbin.com, has released an add-in for Microsoft Outlook XP/2003/2007/2010.  The add-in lets you easily send a secure message to someone by typing that message in Outlook.

To use the Lockbin add-in, open a new email message and click "Use Lockbin," then send your message.  Free users can send 1 email attachment up to 15 MB.  Premium users can send up to 20 file attachments with no pre-set size limit.

The message not sent by email, but rather via secure TLS/SSL to the Lockbin web service at Lockbin.com. There the message is encrypted and stored on the server for six months or until it is retrieved, or deleted by the sender.

Lockbin for Outlook will store passwords for frequently contacted recipients, as well as an unencrypted copy of the message locally.

Lockbin launches online email encryption service

Lockbin.com is a website owned by Encryptomatic LLC since about 2008. We've run the site as an experiment for several years, providing an infrastructure for those wanting to share messages online, securely. Lockbin has been used by people all over the world as a secure message locker.  Lockbin does not hold your keys (your do) so that your messages are always secure.

A new version of the Lockbin software launched recently, providing even more security and ease of use. The service is still free, just as it has always been, although Lockbin has added a new tier of services for subscribers who need more.
